Good Trouble Lives On Rally in the Rotunda

From voter suppression to protest bans, the Trump administration is attacking our rights. But in America, the power belongs to the people—and we’re rising up to prove it.

Join us in the Missouri State Capitol Rotunda on July 17th. This isn’t just a protest. It’s a moral stand in the tradition of Good Trouble.

We Stand United Rally for the Freedom to Assemble

  • 201 West Capitol Avenue Jefferson City, MO, 65101 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

We Stand United will rally for the first amendment right to freely assemble. This rally will be in conjunction with the “Hands Off!” movement, Indivisible, 50501, Women’s March, and many others across the nation.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

  • GATHER: Our headquarters will be at the PURPLE CANOPY located near the Capitol steps.

  • PARKING: Lots marked in red (9, 12, 13/13A) are the most convenient. If those are full, lots marked in blue (10, 14, 18) are also available.

  • RESTROOMS: Restrooms (indicated with green R) are located inside the Capitol on the first floor to the right and left of the main entrance (indicated with gold star).

  • Call to Action

We’re from the Show Me State – Let’s Show them the Capitol City can turn out! Our presence on April 5th is an opportunity for us to set the tone that the Capitol City is a place for lawful protest. We can help to influence the “protest” culture in Jefferson City. We Stand United for the Missouri State Capitol to be a safe place for every voice to be heard.

  • We Stand United (WSU) is coordinating a Rally for the Freedom to Assemble from noon – 3 p.m. at the Missouri State Capitol on April 5th.  This rally is being held in conjunction with the “Hands Off!” movement, Indivisible, 50501, Women’s March, and many others across the nation.

The Rally for the Freedom to Assemble – a right guaranteed by the 1st Amendment -- stays true to WSU’s mission and values and is a friendly reminder to others who are participating that we want to keep this peaceful. Although we will be mixing with other groups with various messages – including hate signs, we are there to influence things in a positive way. By staying together as a group and having a common message centered on the right to freely assemble, we believe it creates a safer, more comfortable environment to have our voices heard.

  • The reality is that we have no control over other groups or people who show up. Events like this are unpredictable. Are there risks? Yes. However, we believe that sticking together as a group and having a common theme centered upon our 1st Amendment Right to Peacefully Assemble will minimize those risks. We Stand United remains autonomous and we also respect the autonomy of other groups.

  • Our We Stand United group will meet at a PURPLE CANOPY near the Capitol Steps

  • There should be plenty of available parking. Street parking is free on Saturdays. View the Capitol Parking map above for details on available lots.

PRESIDENT’S DAY PROTEST

Join us for a peaceful protest at Noon on President’s Day to demand that congress protect us against unelected billionaires stealing our data and dismantling the programs we and our loved ones depend on with no oversight.

SIGNS: As we are a non-partisan organization, we will not allow signs that may offend our co-protesters. No F TRUMP, No signs focused on other divisive issues. You will be provided with a sign, if yours does not pass the vibe check. We are not here to put each other down, we are here to hold Elon Musk and DOGE accountable.

ZERO POLICY FOR VIOLENCE. If anyone is assaulted, we will all immediately sit down. We will not under any circumstance engage with agitators or passersby.

CHANTS AND SONGS. We will provide some printed sheets for chants and sing alongs, additionally they will be available here the day of the protest, so you can utilize them from your phone if preferred. If you don’t wanna sing or chat, you don’t have to. You do you, boo.
